Staff at camp admits fault in deadly jet ski accident
Two former camp workers have admitted guilt in connection to a tragic jet ski accident that resulted in the death of a 10-year-old boy on Old Hickory Lake last summer. Joshua Kennington and Savannah Remington pleaded guilty to reckless homicide, a Class D felony, and have been given a two-year suspended sentence. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reported that the duo were operating jet skis in a reckless manner, which led to a collision resulting in the death of Jack Gear, who was a passenger with Remington at the time. In a lawsuit seeking $10 million in damages filed by Gear’s family, it is alleged that the former staffers were engaging in unsafe behaviors such as speeding and sharp turns to intentionally throw campers into the water. Additionally, the lawsuit claims that the Scouts organization neglected to provide proper training and supervision for its employees.
