St. Michael man sentenced to prison for deadly DUI collision
A man from St. Michael has been sentenced to over five years in federal prison by Chief United States District Judge Peter D. Welte for causing a fatal DUI crash. Acting United States Attorney Jennifer Klemetsrud Puhl confirmed the news, announcing that 46-year-old Ryan Guy was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. In addition to the prison term, Guy will also serve three years of supervised release and be required to pay $2,000 in restitution. Guy admitted to the offense on March 10. The incident took place in 2022 on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation, where Guy was driving while intoxicated and crashed, resulting in the death of a passenger in the vehicle. Guy's blood alcohol content at the time was 0.164, which is more than twice the legal limit.
