Speeding car crashes in Winthrop, Maine after reaching 123 mph

Police reported that a Ford Mustang was seen speeding at 123 mph on Route 202 in Winthrop before a tragic accident over the weekend. A concerned individual called 911 at around 9 p.m. on Saturday to alert authorities about a speeding car traveling west on Route 202. Shortly after, police located the car and observed it speeding at 123 mph in a zone with a speed limit of 45 mph. Despite efforts to stop the vehicle, the officer was unable to catch up. The officer later arrived at the White Duck Brew Pub in East Winthrop to find a collision involving three vehicles, including the Ford Mustang. According to authorities, the Mustang collided with a white Toyota Tacoma driven by Steven Greene, 76, of Wayland, Massachusetts, who was making a left turn onto Turtle Run Road. Tragically, Greene was ejected from his truck and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Mustang then pushed the Tacoma into the path of a black Chevrolet Silverado, the driver of which fortunately did not sustain any injuries. Police identified the owner of the Mustang as Jason Kirshman, 51, from Augusta, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time. The car was being driven by John Stratton, 21, of Sidney. Kirshman was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with life-threatening injuries. Both John Stratton and Nathaniel Stratton, 44, of Oakland, were airlifted to Maine Medical Center with critical injuries. As of Monday, the incident was still being investigated by the Maine State Police.
