Speed a factor in fatal Omaha crash
Omaha police have identified the victims involved in a tragic accident that occurred in south Omaha, south of 13th and M streets around 2:30 a.m. The crash resulted in the death of one person, Edwin Dubon, 22, and critical injuries to two others, Lionel Martinez, 24, and Haidon McGinnis-Perovich, 15. The accident involved a 2016 Dodge Durango traveling at a high speed, which left the road, struck a retaining wall, and caught fire. Dubon was pronounced dead at the scene, Martinez was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition, and McGinnis-Perovich was airlifted to an out-of-state burn unit. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
