Spanish police suspect Diogo Jota was driving car in fatal accident with brother
Spanish authorities have stated that the available evidence suggests that Diogo Jota was driving the car involved in the crash that tragically took the lives of the Liverpool footballer and his brother Andre Silva. The police also believe that the vehicle was speeding significantly over the limit on the A-52 motorway in Cernadilla, Zamora, when the accident occurred around 12.30am local time on Thursday. Reports indicate that Jota was on his way from Portugal to Santander in Spain to catch a ferry back to England. The Civil Guard in Zamora is finalizing their expert report, examining the wheel marks from the crash. A statement released by the Civil Guard mentions that the report, once completed, will be presented to the court for review. Initially, the authorities mentioned a possible tire burst during an overtaking maneuver leading the car to veer off the road, catch fire, and tragically take the lives of both occupants. The funeral for Jota and his brother was held in Gondomar, near Porto, on Saturday.
