Southwest Houston: Two-car collision injures three; leads to partial closure, power loss
The southbound lanes of Fondren Road in southwest Houston are currently closed due to a collision that resulted in injuries and a power outage. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on a Thursday in the 9300 block of Fondren Road near South Braeswood Boulevard. According to HPD Lt. Larry Crowson, a speeding Honda collided with a Ford F-150 while trying to avoid another vehicle. Both vehicles overturned multiple times, with the Honda splitting into two parts after crashing into a tree and two power poles. Approximately 300–400 customers are without power as a result. The drivers of the vehicles are in stable condition, while a passenger from the Honda has been hospitalized in critical condition. Investigations are ongoing, and although there are reports of the vehicles possibly racing, this has not yet been verified. Authorities have closed the southbound lanes of Fondren for investigation and cleanup, with no specific timeline given for reopening the road.
