Good news has emerged from the family of a 20-year-old Point Loma Nazarene University student who was severely injured in a beach accident in Hawaii. Dakota Briley, son of renowned surfer Shawn Briley, is now breathing on his own after sustaining critical head and spinal injuries. The long-term effects of the accident are still uncertain, but his sister Erin Lau expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received since the incident. Briley was injured while preparing for a surf lesson on Oahu's North Shore when a car struck him, causing life-threatening injuries. Despite the severity of his injuries, Briley remains in critical but stable condition, with doctors cautiously optimistic about his recovery. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist with medical expenses, and the family remains hopeful for Briley's healing and return to his beloved sport of surfing.
