Sole survivor of Warrensburg crash meets with initial responders
In Warrensburg, Missouri, the sole survivor of a tragic accident that claimed the lives of multiple family members met with some of the individuals who played a vital role in saving her life on Friday. Alex Moffett, who was 19 years old at the time of the accident, had been traveling to a Chris Stapleton concert in Kansas City with her sister, father, and grandmother when their vehicle was struck by a 16-year-old driver who had fallen asleep at the wheel. Her father and grandmother passed away on impact, while her sister later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital after donating her organs. Moffett suffered serious injuries, including a punctured lung and multiple fractures, and underwent extensive medical treatments and rehabilitation in Colorado. A year after the accident, the college student has relocated to Warrensburg and shares a special bond with one of her initial responders. At a recent EMS-Trauma 360 Critical Care Symposium in Kansas City, first responders and medical staff discussed the importance of communication in responding to traumatic events, such as the one that Moffett experienced. Moffett expressed her gratitude for the ongoing support and communication she has received from her medical caregivers, emphasizing the importance of post-incident communication in the healing process for both patients and responders.
