Soldier from 101st Airborne Division killed in overseas training incident

A soldier from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) tragically lost his life in a training accident near Camp Croft, Hungary. Sgt. Aaron Cox, a 24-year-old infantryman from Mabank, Texas, was part of the “Strike” 2nd Mobile Brigade Combat Team. The incident, which occurred during preparation for Exercise Saber Guardian 25, was a vehicle crash that led to Cox's passing. Col. Duke Reim expressed his condolences, emphasizing Cox's strong leadership and quick advancement through the ranks. The soldier had joined the Army in 2021, arrived at Fort Campbell in 2022, and had completed training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Hungary was Cox's second deployment, following one in Poland in 2022. He had received several awards, with his accomplishments including the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and Expert Infantryman Badge. The military is working closely with Cox's family to provide support during this difficult time. The Hungarian Allies have also been commended for their swift response and assistance to the soldiers. The details of the incident are currently under investigation.
