Six killed in fiery two-vehicle crash in Hill County identified

SAN ANTONIO - Six people have been identified after a devastating crash on State Highway 171 near Waco that left two vehicles engulfed in flames and claimed the lives of six people. The crash happened between Bynum and Malone on Saturday afternoon near FM 3155 when a Nissan traveling northbound on SH 171 attempted to pass another vehicle and collided with an oncoming Ford van. RELATED: Failed passing attempt triggers fiery head-on crash, killing four adults and two children The victims in the van were identified as Amanda Fowler, 37, Sarah Johnson, 59, an 8-year-old boy, and a 7-year-old girl, all from Hillsboro. All four died at the scene. A 10-year-old boy who was also in the van survived and was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The two people in the Nissan were identified as Sallie Evans Benson, 67, of Fort Worth, and Marvin Evans, 50, of Fort Collins, Colorado. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The collision caused both vehicles to catch fire, creating a tragic scene along the highway.
