Siblings speed before fatal accident of E.E. Smith High School football players

According to Fayetteville authorities, a tragic incident occurred when two sisters were engaged in a race, resulting in a crash that claimed the lives of three young men. Trevor Merritt, Jai’Hyon Elliott, and Nick Williams lost their lives on Oct. 8 when the Honda driven by 21-year-old Dymond Nekiya Monroe crashed on Rosehill Road. Monroe, who was taking the trio from football practice to a birthday celebration, now faces three counts of involuntary manslaughter. The police have also pressed charges against another driver involved in the incident, Destini Genwright, who surrendered to the Cumberland County Detention Center on Tuesday.
