Siblings in Illinois accused of misleading about involvement in deadly accident
A brother and sister from Beach Park have been accused of obstructing justice in relation to a tragic crash that took the life of a motorcyclist last fall. The incident, which occurred late one evening in October, involved a collision between a motorcyclist and a Kia Rio at an intersection in Beach Park. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist passed away at the scene due to the impact. Initially, authorities were given inaccurate information about the individuals involved in the crash, with the sister claiming to be a passenger while her brother was said to be the driver of the Kia. However, upon further investigation, it was revealed that the sister was actually driving the vehicle at the time of the collision, and the brother was not present in the car during the incident. The authorities suspect that the false information provided was to conceal the sister's potential alcohol impairment at the time of the crash. Subsequently, the brother and sister were each charged with a felony count of obstruction of justice and have surrendered to authorities. They are set to appear in court for arraignment later this month. Further charges related to the crash, such as DUI, have not been ruled out by officials.
