Shortage of fuel and engine surges before deadly Rochester plane crash
Federal investigators have reported that a small aircraft crash near Maplewood Drive in Rochester resulted in the death of one passenger and serious injuries to the pilot. The preliminary findings from the National Transportation Safety Board indicate that the Piper J5C plane experienced engine surges before losing power during the flight. The investigation revealed that the pilot attempted emergency landings during the flight, but ultimately the engine failed completely, leading to the crash. The report mentioned the presence of dirt and debris in the fuel system of the aircraft, as well as damage to the right magneto. The investigation is ongoing, and the NTSB emphasized that these findings are preliminary. To read the full report, click here.
