Sheriff's patrol vehicle and Audi crash in Monterey County, woman hospitalized
A Monterey County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle was involved in a crash on Wednesday.Our reporter on the scene said that the crash occurred at the intersection of Blanco and Davis.Preliminary reports indicate that a white Audi was traveling east on Blanco, while a sheriff's vehicle was heading south. Our reporter on the scene was informed that the intersection had a green light for eastbound traffic.Our reporter also stated that the patrol vehicle was on its way to a domestic incident with lights and sirens activated. As the patrol vehicle was clearing the intersection, the white Audi entered the intersection, resulting in a collision.The Audi was found against a traffic pole. The vehicle appeared to have sustained driver-side damage, and the airbag had deployed. The patrol vehicle exhibited front-end damage.A 54-year-old woman had to be extricated from the Audi and was transported to the hospital.Traffic is backed up, but the road remains open, according to our reporter.The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
