Sheriff says motorcyclist was speeding before fatal crash in Princeton

A motorcycle accident resulted in the tragic death of a 27-year-old man late Thursday night near the Twin Cities metro area. The crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. to the west of Elk Lake in Princeton, Minnesota, as reported by the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office. The driver was observed to be speeding before the incident, with a helmet found near the scene. The sheriff's office is currently investigating the crash, and it remains uncertain whether alcohol was a contributing factor. Princeton, located approximately 50 miles northwest of Minneapolis, was the site of the accident. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety disclosed that the state has witnessed 205 traffic-related fatalities so far this year, with motorcyclists making up a minimum of 20 of the casualties. On July 1, a new state law permitting motorcyclists to engage in lane splitting and lane filtering under specific conditions went into effect.
