Sheriff in Martin County releases video of deadly collision between deputy and cyclist

The Martin County Sheriff's Office has released new information and video footage of a fatal collision involving a sheriff's deputy and a bicyclist in Jensen Beach. The incident occurred last month at an intersection where bicyclist John Mullins was struck by Deputy Joshua Pease, who was en route to another crash with lights and sirens activated. The video shows Mullins crossing the intersection diagonally before the collision. Despite the tragedy, Sheriff John Budensiek defended Deputy Pease's actions, stating that he followed state laws and department protocols. The sheriff also mentioned that Deputy Pease, who recently returned to work following a period of administrative leave, experienced great distress over the incident. The victim's family, represented by attorney Charles Soechting Jr., expressed a desire for answers regarding the incident, as they were previously unaware of the details surrounding their loved one's death.
