Sheep-carrying semi crashes in Provo Canyon

In Provo Canyon, a semitruck carrying sheep crashed on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the tragic loss of several sheep. The incident occurred when the semi lost control on a curve near East Canyon Road and overturned while traveling west on U.S. 189 around 2 p.m. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed. Emergency responders worked to relocate the remaining sheep to a safer location. The accident led to the closure of the right lane and caused significant traffic delays between Deer Creek Reservoir and the crash site. Although all lanes were reopened by 8 p.m., congestion persisted from the connection of state Route 92 to U.S. 189 and extended to the mouth of the canyon. Updates on this incident will be provided as more information becomes available.
