Severe injuries in work zone crash near Brown Deer Road
A serious crash occurred on I-43 near Brown Deer Road early Saturday morning, June 28, 2025. As per the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, around 1 a.m., a car collided with a construction vehicle in an active work zone just north of Brown Deer Road in the northbound lanes. The worker in the construction vehicle sustained a concussion but was unharmed. The male driver of the colliding vehicle was seriously injured and is currently hospitalized and on a ventilator, while his wife, the only other occupant, was unharmed. A third vehicle carrying three juveniles returning from Summerfest also collided with the couple's vehicle, but none of the juveniles were injured. By 7 a.m., the accident site was cleared and lanes reopened. The investigation into the crash continues.
