Severe injuries in two-vehicle collision on Route 176
A man sustained severe injuries in a collision involving two cars on Route 176 near Union. Emergency crews from Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts and Union Fire Protection District responded to the scene at 7:59 a.m. The driver of one vehicle was found unconscious and trapped in his car, requiring a challenging one-hour extraction process. A medical flight team from a local hospital assisted with care during the rescue operation. The injured individual was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment. The second driver was transported to Northwest Medicine Huntley Hospital with injuries described as "moderate" by officials.
