Severe injuries in Broward motorbike crash on US-27; one rider hospitalized

A serious motorcycle accident occurred on U.S. Highway 27 in Broward County on Sunday afternoon, resulting in a man losing his leg and part of his arm and another individual sustaining injuries. The Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue responded to the collision just after 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of US-27 and Griffin Road. Emergency crews found the two victims, with one man critically injured and experiencing a traumatic leg amputation and partial arm amputation. The other person suffered a shoulder injury. Both individuals were declared Level 1 trauma alerts, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's Air Rescue team airlifted the critically injured man to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, while the other person was taken to the same hospital by ambulance. BSOFR also reported a minor fire involving the motorcycle that was quickly extinguished. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
