
Severe injuries from crash fatal for Nicolet High School student.
A tragic car crash on Wednesday, Oct. 1 involving a Nicolet High School student has resulted in the student sustaining fatal injuries. The incident occurred on Pioneer Road near Klug Lane at 3:45 p.m. Mequon police reported that an SUV veered across the centerline and collided with a dump truck. The SUV driver, identified as a 16-year-old boy from Fox Point, was rescued and airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The dump truck driver, a 57-year-old man from Cedarburg, also suffered severe injuries and was taken to a hospital. The student, Grant Freeze, a sophomore at Nicolet Union High School District, will not survive his injuries, according to his family who have decided to donate his organs. Superintendent Greg Kabara expressed deep sadness over the loss, highlighting Freeze's impact as a swimmer, student, and friend at Nicolet. The district has provided support to students following the tragic event.
