Several injured in fiery I-15 crash leading to DUI arrest
An overturned Jeep caught fire after a DUI crash in Escondido, leading to a halt in traffic. The incident took place on the northbound Interstate 15 on-ramp to eastbound State Route 78 on Saturday evening. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), an SUV driver was speeding recklessly at over 100 miles per hour and collided with a Jeep, causing it to roll over and catch fire. Good samaritans helped remove two individuals from the Jeep, who were then taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The SUV driver and a child passenger were also hospitalized for minor injuries with a police officer, and the driver was later arrested for felony DUI after treatment.
