Seven West Palm Beach officers turn themselves in following participation in fatal 2024 pursuit.

Seven West Palm Beach police officers surrendered themselves recently in connection to a fatal police chase resulting in the tragic deaths of a mother and her pregnant daughter last July. Following the incident, which occurred on July 30th, the West Palm Beach police initiated an internal investigation and placed the officers on administrative leave. WPBF 25 has been following this case since the crash took place in August and reported when the officers came under criminal scrutiny. Concerns revolve around whether the officers violated pursuit policy by engaging in a risky chase that led to the fatal crash. The chase extended beyond city boundaries, involving three police units, one marked and two unmarked, pursuing the suspect for several miles. The victims, Marcia Pochette, 57, and her pregnant daughter Jenice Woods, 27, tragically lost their lives when the pursued individual collided with their vehicle as they were entering their neighborhood around 8 p.m. The West Palm Beach Fraternal Order of Police expressed condolences to the affected families and stated support for the arrested officers, emphasizing the importance of due process and asking for the community's understanding during this challenging time.
