Settlement reached in fatal crash involving 16-year-old
The family of 16-year-old Kolson Elliott has settled a lawsuit with the South Carolina Department of Transportation following a tragic accident that occurred on Drayton Road last year. The lawsuit stated that Elliott's vehicle veered off the road to avoid a collision, went over an embankment, and ended up in Lawsons Fork Creek where he tragically drowned. It was noted in the lawsuit that the bridge lacked guardrails to prevent such accidents. According to court documents, SCDOT has agreed to a settlement of $350,000. Elliott, a student at Boiling Springs High School, will be remembered by his family and community.
