Serious injury to bicyclist in Casco truck collision, authorities report
A man from Maine is currently hospitalized with severe injuries following a collision between his bicycle and a truck on Route 302 in Casco. The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Roosevelt Trail (Route 302) and Brown Avenue. The bicyclist, identified as James Nason, 71, of Sebago, was riding an electric bicycle in the eastbound breakdown lane of Route 302 when he tried to make a left turn onto Brown Avenue. Unfortunately, he collided with a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck traveling in the same direction while crossing from the breakdown lane to Brown Avenue. Following the crash, Nason was thrown from his bicycle and sustained serious injuries. Despite not wearing a helmet, there is no suspicion of wrongdoing on the part of the 29-year-old truck driver from Portland involved in the collision. Route 302 had to be closed near the Brown Avenue intersection as authorities continue to investigate the incident.
