Serious injury for scooter rider in Southgate car collision

A person riding an electric scooter was seriously injured in a collision with a car at approximately 6:10 p.m. on Monday in Southgate, Michigan. Southgate Police Department responded to the incident at Fort Street and Eureka Road where they found the rider unconscious and with severe injuries. The individual, a resident of Wyandotte, was taken to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital by medics from AmeriPro EMS, although their condition upon arrival at the hospital is currently unknown. The car driver, a woman from Maybee, was heading south on Fort Street and approaching the intersection at Eureka Road on a green light, while the scooter rider was traveling east on Eureka and in the intersection's crosswalk. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. The Downriver Crash Reconstruction Team is supporting the Southgate Police in their investigation.
