
Serious crash shuts down part of Main St. in Lewiston
A female pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and injured early Monday morning in Lewiston, according to a member of the fire department.It's unclear how badly the woman was hurt; a Lewiston fire official says she was taken to an area hospital from the scene in an ambulance.The incident was described as "serious" in an emergency alert sent around 5:30 AM by the City of Lewiston. Officials had asked people to avoid the area between Elm St. and Holland St. A temporary road closure in place for that section of Main St. has since been lifted.The Lewiston Police Department is currently investigating. One officer could be seen collecting a pair of boots left in the middle of the road. Monday's crash was at least the 50th traffic incident involving a pedestrian in 2025, according to data from the Maine DOT.
