Serious crash into utility pole on east side of Fort Wayne leaves one in critical condition.
A man is in critical condition following a car accident on the east side of Fort Wayne. The incident occurred when the driver collided with a utility pole on Lake Avenue east of Reed Road on Saturday morning. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Initial reports suggest that the driver was attempting to pass stopped traffic by using the center turn lane when he lost control of the vehicle at the Reed Road intersection, crashing into the utility pole. The Fort Wayne Police Department's Fatal Crash Team is conducting an investigation into the incident, with aerial documentation assistance from the Air Support Unit. The intersection and nearby roads have been closed off by the police, with a noticeable presence of damage to the vehicle and utility pole. The traffic light at the intersection is currently not functioning. The FWPD continues to investigate this incident.
