Serious car accident in central Athens injures one
A serious traffic incident occurred on Syggrou Avenue in Athens late Tuesday night, July 16, resulting in at least one person sustaining serious injuries. The crash unfolded as a grey car attempted to overtake another vehicle in the middle lane, lost control, and hit a car in the right lane before crashing into the road's metal barriers. Shortly after, another car collided with the crashed vehicle. Emergency services, including ambulances from the National Emergency Aid Centre (EKAV) and fire brigade units, quickly responded to the scene. The driver who was seriously injured was taken to the General State Hospital of Nikaia. The incident caused significant traffic disruptions in the northbound lanes of Syggrou Avenue for about an hour, with emergency crews working to clear the scene. Fortunately, no further injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the accident's cause.
