Serious accident on IH-20 sends Bossier City family members to hospital
In a tragic event in Terrell, Texas where a fatigued truck driver fell asleep at the wheel early Saturday, a devastating multi-vehicle crash occurred. Sadly, this incident led to the loss of four lives from North Texas and left two individuals from Bossier City hospitalized. As per preliminary crash details from the Texas Department of Public Safety, traffic on I-20 heading eastbound had come to a stop due to an earlier accident. At that moment, an 18-wheeler operated by a driver who had reportedly dozed off crashed into the stationary traffic, causing a chain reaction involving seven vehicles. Among those affected were residents including 50-year-old Daniel Andraca, 19-year-old Brenda Andraca, and 22-year-old Kevin Andraca from Bossier City. Tragically, the crash also claimed the life of 79-year-old Billy McKeller from Tyler, Texas. Kevin underwent treatment at the scene while Brenda and Daniel were taken to a hospital in the Dallas area. Fortunately, Sgt. Kyle Bradford mentioned that both Brenda and Daniel were treated and discharged the same day. Everyone involved in the crash was wearing their seatbelts and experienced non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver, Alexis Osmani Gonzalez-Companioni, was also admitted to the local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The DPS State Crash Team is actively investigating all elements of this incident, but as the investigation is ongoing, no further details are available at this time.
