Senator Cervantes cited for DUI after car crash in Sacramento

(FOX40.COM) — Senator Sabrina Cervantes was taken to the hospital and cited for suspicion of DUI after being involved in a car crash on Monday in Sacramento, according to the Sacramento Police Department. Police said officers responded to a crash involving Cervantes, around 1:30 p.m. in the area of 14th Street. The State Senator for the 31st district was taken to the hospital for minor injuries as officers investigated the crash. SPD said while speaking to the senator in the hospital, officers saw signs of intoxication and began a DUI investigation. Police confirm that Cervantes was then given a citation for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
