Semi-truck driver denies felony charges in fatal Southern California crash

A young semi-truck driver accused of causing a fatal multi-vehicle crash on the 10 Freeway in Ontario has pleaded not guilty to felony charges during his first court appearance at the Rancho Cucamonga Courthouse. The 21-year-old, identified as Jashanpreet Singh, faced allegations including driving under the influence of drugs and causing bodily injury. Singh allegedly failed to stop his tractor-trailer in time, resulting in a tragic chain reaction crash that claimed three lives. Following the incident, the I-10 and I-15 connector road had to be closed for an extensive period as authorities investigated and cleared the area. Reports indicate that Singh is an Indian national who entered the country illegally in 2022. Despite this, California officials note that Singh possessed Employment Authorization Documents approved by the federal government, granting him a valid REAL ID. Singh's legal proceedings are ongoing, with his next court appearance scheduled for November 4th.
