Semi crash forces officials to temporarily close portion of I-70 in Hancock County

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. — Interstate 70 eastbound was temporarily closed in Hancock County Sunday evening. A notification from the Indiana Department of Transportation indicates all lanes of the roadway were shut down near mile marker 100 around 5:04 p.m. to allow officials to clean up and investigate a crash. A spokesperson for the Hancock County 911 center confirmed that the crash involved a semi and three other vehicles. During the crash, the semi struck an interstate guard rail. Hancock County officials indicated that initial reports on the crash suggested at least one person may have been injured in the crash. The medics who responded to the scene, however, did not transport any of the parties involved in the crash to local hospitals. INDOT reported that I-70 eastbound reopened at mile marker 100 around 6:14 p.m. As of this article's publication, no additional information on the incident had been made available.
