Second driver succumbs to injuries in fatal fiery San Jose crash; DUI suspected
A tragic incident in a San Jose neighborhood resulted in the death of two individuals following a head-on collision last week. The driver who was critically injured in the crash, which claimed the life of a 74-year-old woman, has also passed away. Police suspect that the man, identified as 81-year-old Christian Herbert Hygelund of Los Gatos, may have been driving under the influence at the time of the collision. The San Jose Police Department revealed that Hygelund died from his injuries on Wednesday and pointed to alcohol intoxication as a likely factor in the crash. The incident occurred when Hygelund attempted to overtake a vehicle on Foxworthy Avenue, resulting in a collision that led to the tragic loss of life. Neighbors estimated the speed of Hygelund's vehicle to be at least double the posted speed limit. The police are investigating the case, and anyone with information is urged to contact them.
