
Search for missing person in Mississippi River after boat crash
Emergency responders are currently scouring the waters of the Mississippi River near Savanna in search of an individual who went missing following a boating mishap last weekend. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office was alerted to the incident on Saturday, May 31 at approximately 5:33 p.m. When the report came in, one person had safely reached shore while the other remained unaccounted for in the river. Promptly, Savanna Fire and EMS, in cooperation with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and the Carroll County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), sprang into action. They were soon joined by an Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) officer and boat. Search and rescue operations persisted until around 11 p.m. on Saturday, recommencing at 7 a.m. the following day but halting at 5 p.m. due to unfavorable conditions.
