School bus accident injures 12, one airlifted
A Leander ISD school bus was in a collision on Wednesday afternoon at Nameless Road at Palomino Ranch Drive. Among the 42 children and the bus driver on board, nine children and the driver were taken to the hospital, with two children airlifted. Reunification for the kids is being organized at Round Mountain Baptist Church. It was the first day of school for Leander ISD. ATCEMS managed 43 patients, with a total of 12 requiring transport. Ten transport units responded, transporting patients to various medical facilities. The preliminary investigation by DPS revealed that the bus veered off the road due to unknown reasons. Fortunately, there were no fatalities or life-threatening injuries among the children on board. Another school bus from Cleveland ISD was also involved in a separate crash on FM 1010 earlier that morning.
