School board member in Davidson County accused of DWI after crash with student, say troopers

An individual who was a member of the Davidson County Board of Education has recently resigned and is facing various charges following a car accident that led to a DCS student being injured. The crash occurred on N.C. 109 in the Silver Valley community in North Carolina. The board accepted the resignation of Ashley Carroll, who was charged with offenses including DWI, open container violation, failure to yield, and driving with an expired registration. The incident involved Carroll's attempt to make a left turn in her 2024 Toyota, resulting in a collision with a 2021 Honda. Reports indicate the presence of an open container in her vehicle, with signs of alcohol detected by law enforcement. Blood testing was conducted for further assessment. The crash caused injuries to the student and a passenger in the Honda, who were both transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Witnesses described it as appearing like a head-on collision, prompting concern for those involved. Carroll, who was elected in 2018, submitted her resignation amidst these developments.
