Schenectady family speaks out after loved one dies in fatal auto-pedestrian accident

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The investigation into a fatal auto-pedestrian accident in Schenectady at the beginning of the month, is ongoing. The pedestrian was fifty-nine year old Gerald Fessenden, known to his family as Bobby. This loss has been devastating for his loved ones, who told us they never imagined their life without him.  “We were definitely not prepared for this at all,” said Stephanie Moreno, Bobby’s daughter. “It's just been a nightmare. I couldn't even imagine living in a world without my dad. I thought that my dad would always be there.” For Stephanie, and her mom Patricia, losing Bobby has been a shock. “I sit here, and I feel like he might be still coming into the side door, like he might still be on his way,” said Stephanie. “It just feels so unbelievable.” In this devastating time, they’re trying to remember the good. “I was growing up and he was so encouraging and so positive and so optimistic,” explained Stephanie. “He instilled in me that I can do whatever I want as long as I put my mind to it. I would have a lot of days where I didn't want to come out of my room or I didn't want to talk. My dad would just always brighten me up. He would say ‘rise and shine Stephy. It's a beautiful day today.” According to Schenectady Police, the investigation into this accident remains ongoing, and they are asking anyone with information to contact them. “It's just so hard because we weren't there,” Stephanie added. “We don't know exactly what happened.” Patricia hopes that anyone who can help their family find closure, will come forward. “If anybody here knows anything, just come forward, so that I can have peace,” Patricia stated.  Throughout a devastating time, in the midst of tragedy, Stephanie says her dad is sending them signs. “It was all overcast yesterday, and then the sky had like a little piece of sun coming out,” Stephanie explained. “I just felt like that was my dad telling me like, it's okay.” Again, the investigation into this tragic accident remains ongoing, and according to Schenectady Police the driver of the vehicle is fully cooperative in the investigation. At this time they’re asking anyone with information, video surveillance, or dashcam footage, to contact their tips line at 518-788-6566. If you’re looking to support Bobby's family, they’re asking for donations on their GoFundMe to help with unexpected expenses as they grieve and process this loss. Read the latest from NEWS10:
