Santa Monica building severely damaged by car collision
A vehicle collided with a building in Santa Monica on Thursday night, resulting in extensive damage and the displacement of a family residing in an upper-level apartment. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. when a car traveling down Santa Monica Boulevard lost control and crashed into the building at the intersection of Princeton Street, according to Santa Monica police. Witnesses informed CBS LA that emergency responders rescued the driver, who appeared dazed and was subsequently transported to a hospital for medical evaluation. The severity of the driver's injuries remains unclear at this time, and authorities are investigating whether a medical condition or impairment was a contributing factor. Thankfully, no individuals were inside the building at the time of the collision, but precautions are being taken, such as requesting building inspectors to thoroughly examine the property and deploying crews to install temporary support beams to prevent structural failure.
