San Jose police announce city’s 11th fatal crash this year
(BCN) -- Police in San Jose are investigating the city's 11th fatal traffic collision this year after a man died in a fiery crash early Sunday near Reid-Hillview Airport. About 1:55 a.m., a police sergeant patrolling the area heard a crash and found a severely damaged 2010 Toyota Camry near Capitol Expressway and Cunningham Avenue. It appeared the Camry was traveling south on Capitol Expressway at a high rate of speed when it hit construction safety barriers in the center median and caught fire, police said Monday. After extinguishing the fire, crews extricated the driver, who was the only person in the car. The man, whose name wasn't released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is the city's 11th traffic death of 2026. Anyone with information on the investigation is urged to contact Detective DelliCarpini #4103 of the San Jose Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit at [email protected] or (408)277-4654.
