Sacramento police arrest man accused of fatal hit-and-run crash that left bicyclist dead

(FOX40.COM) -- A man accused of a hit-and-run crash in Sacramento that sent a bicyclist to the hospital in critical condition before he later died was arrested. • Video Above: What happens when you call 911? Around 9:30 a.m. on May 5, the Sacramento Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle and bicyclist collision near the intersection of 24th Street and Fruitridge Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with significant injuries. He was taken to a hospital, where he died about a week later, on May 13. SPD said the vehicle involved fled the scene before police showed up. Through an investigation, law enforcement said they identified the suspect as Lamont Jackson, 29, of Sacramento. He was arrested and faces related charges. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, and the incident remains under investigation.
