Sac survivor assists in creating memorial for 1972 plane crash at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor.
In honor of our 70th anniversary, KCRA 3 is delving into our archives to revisit community stories from the past. This Wednesday marks the 53rd anniversary of the tragic Canadair Sabre Korean War-era jet crash at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor in Sacramento. The incident occurred when the jet failed to take off from Sacramento Executive Airport during an air show, resulting in the loss of 22 lives, including 12 children. In a video clip dating back to 2002, we highlighted survivor Carrie McCluskey's advocacy for a memorial at the former crash site, now home to the Sacramento police headquarters. Check out the link below for more insights on the lessons learned from this air disaster.
