Rural Luck Woman Dies in Fatal Hwy 8 & Hwy 65 Crash
A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred Saturday evening at the junction of Hwy 8 and Hwy 65 in Polk County, resulting in the death of a woman and serious injury to another individual. The incident was reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office Emergency Call Center at 7:41 PM. A pickup truck towing a trailer was heading north on Hwy 65, failed to obey the stop sign at Hwy 8, and was hit by a westbound passenger car. Melissa Johnson, the 40-year-old driver of the pickup truck from rural Luck, WI, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other car was airlifted to regions hospital with severe injuries. The crash is currently being investigated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from Lakes Region EMS, Apple River Fire Department, Life Link Air Ambulance, and the Polk County Medical Examiner.
