Route 8 closed in Otis following State Police cruiser crash
OTIS, Mass. (WWLP) - A Massachusetts State Police trooper was taken to the hospital after crashing his cruiser on Reservoir Road in Otis Thursday morning. Massachusetts State Police Trooper Leah O'Connell told 22News that a trooper from the Lee Barracks reported at around 9:49 a.m. that he was involved in a crash on Reservoir Road. The trooper was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for possible injuries. The cruiser was the only vehicle involved and the cause of the crash is being investigated. State police have informed officials to treat the roadway for ice. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation stated that a portion of Route 8 is closed in both directions at mile marker 10. 22News has a crew on the way and this story will be updated as soon as more information becomes available.
