
Route 50 traffic in Clarksburg being detoured after tractor trailer accident
UPDATE: 9:00 a.m. CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — All U.S. Route 50 traffic is being detoured through Clarksburg after a semi truck was involved in an accident early Monday morning and went off the road. As of 9 a.m., all westbound traffic is being redirected onto E Pike Street at the top of Old Bridgeport Hill and back onto Route 50 at Joyce Street. Emergency crews and a crane were on the scene, the tractor trailer was still on its side along the side of Route 50 as of just before 9 a.m. ORIGINAL: 7:36 a.m. CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A two-vehicle accident Monday morning slowed traffic along Route 50 in Clarksburg. According to the Harrison County 911 Log, it happened just before 5:00 a.m., when a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle collided westbound at the top of Bridgeport Hill. As of 7:00 a.m., 911 officials said traffic was reduced to one lane in both directions and was moving slowly on the highway due to the tractor-trailer flipped on its side. One person was transported to United Hospital Center from the scene, but 12 News has received no word on that person's condition. Clarksburg Fire and Police Departments as well as the Harrison County EMS all responded to the incident, and still remain on scene as they work to get the tractor-trailer upright.
