Route 460 experiencing “extended shutdown” after crash
ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) - Route 460 between 258 and Church Street in Windsor is expected to be closed for an extended period of time following a crash Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff's office confirmed. Isle of Wight issued a traffic alert Tuesday afternoon at 4:15 p.m. advising that Route 460 was closed in both directions due to an "incident." The alert said emergency crews were working to clear the area and asked motorists to use a detour if possible. There is no estimated time for the road to reopen. WAVY reached out to the Isle of Wight Sheriff's Office for more information on what the incident entailed. Master Deputy Alecia Paul confirmed a vehicle crash knocked down a telephone pole across Route 460. The vehicle also hit a church. VDOT crews responded to the scene. She said units on scene advised the sheriff's office that they expected this to be an "extended shutdown."
