Rotterdam resident taken into custody following collision that resulted in fatality on Albany's Everett Road
A 34-year-old man tragically passed away following a crash near the Interstate 90 exit ramp to Everett Road in Albany. The man was found severely injured inside his vehicle and later succumbed to his injuries at Albany Medical Center Hospital. The other driver involved, 29-year-old Matthew Merriman, was arrested on charges including vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, and reckless criminal mischief. Merriman, who exhibited signs of impairment, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and subsequently taken into custody. He appeared in city court and was then sent to Albany County jail. Authorities are working to notify the victim's family before releasing his name. The collision occurred when the victim was entering Everett Road from the highway ramp and was struck by Merriman's vehicle traveling north on Everett Road.
