Rotterdam man arrested following deadly collision in Albany
A fatal incident occurred on Everett Road in Albany, resulting in the death of a 34-year-old man and the arrest of a 29-year-old man, Matthew Merriman. The crash, that took place near the I-90 exit ramp around 5:45 p.m., led to the victim's serious injuries and subsequent death at the scene despite emergency treatment. Merriman, driving the second vehicle involved in the crash, was found to be impaired and was taken into police custody. He sustained non-life threatening injuries and was charged following the incident. The investigation reveals that the victim was hit by Merriman's vehicle while exiting the off-ramp onto Everett Road. The investigation is ongoing, and Everett Road was temporarily closed but has since reopened. The victim's identity is being withheld until family notification.
