Return of Robinson PD sergeant following work-related crash
After being injured in an on-duty accident, Robinson Police Department Sergeant William Hughes has made a strong recovery and is now back in uniform. His resilience and determination during his rehabilitation have impressed his colleagues, who are delighted to welcome him back to serving the community he deeply cares about. Hughes had suffered serious injuries in a crash on Bullhide Creek Road in May, when his patrol car hit a sinkhole. He was stuck in his vehicle until emergency crews rescued him and air-lifted him to Baylor Scott and White in Temple. Multiple departments, including Lorena Police and Fire, Hewitt Police and Fire, Waco Fire, Robinson Volunteer Fire, AMR, and an Air Ambulance, assisted at the scene. The Temple Police Department even supported Hughes' family and Robinson PD officers with lunch during his stay at Baylor Scott and White Temple, where he was released a week later in stable condition.
