Another neighbor, Shelby Ferris, described witnessing the frantic chase with her father. A third neighbor, Alicia Searcy, voiced concerns about the dangerous driving behavior of the 17-year-old driver, emphasizing the potential harm to families and locals in the area. Searcy also shared her shock upon learning about the crash, stating it was unprecedented in the town. The pursuit began on the beach near mile marker 35 when a police officer attempted to stop the speeding vehicle. The chase continued onto the neighborhood streets, where onlookers observed an officer with a gun drawn. Students from Port Aransas High School described the apprehension of the individuals in the car, and one person was found carrying weapons, drugs, and cash in a backpack. Searcy expressed the town's firm stance against such criminal activity and emphasized that Port Aransas would not tolerate it. Tyler Ellis, the driver, was treated for injuries, arrested, and charged with various offenses.
